Umm Salim

UMM SALIM (963 km2)

In early 2024, Lotus acquired 5.5 blocks from B2Gold (TSX:BTO) located to the south of the company’s Umm Samra license blocks. The Umm Salim project area can be easily accessed from the town of Marsa Alam about 75 km to the east, along the Marsa – Idfu tarmac road. Numerous dirt roads and tracks provide access through the project area, approximately 30 minutes south of the current Lotus field camp.

The prospective areas of the project are dominated by Neoproterozoic ophiolitic suites, surrounded by intermediate volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, with minor schistose metasedimentary units interspersed. These units are intruded by syntectonic gabbro-diorite complexes, as well as late- to post-tectonic alkaline granites. The western licenses are dominantly covered by Triassic sedimentary rocks and recent aeolian sands.

Lotus regards the Umm Salim project as a high priority at present, and work since formally accessing the property early 2024 is focusing on assessing the area rapidly to identify possible targets along the highly sheared and altered rocks within the Mubarak-Barramiya Shear Belt.

The project area contains the historical Umm Salim mining settlement, as well as multiple historical and recent artisanal workings. The majority of these lie along structural contact boundaries along strike from the historically important Barramiya mine. The Barramiya mine and immediately adjacent areas are not part of the current Lotus properties.

The company conducted an extensive desktop review of the area, and identified numerous conceptual targets focusing on regional terrane boundaries and second order fault zones as areas of interest for orogenic gold mineralization.

In 2024 Lotus has conducted a project wide stream sediment sampling program and regional reconnaissance mapping and grab sampling. Stream sediment sampling results are pending. Initial targets where work has focused are at Umm Salim Main and a new target at Rawd Ashab. Work is ongoing on these and other areas.
