SIQDID (±483 km²)
As part of Bid Round 2, Lotus was awarded three contiguous sectors making up the Siqdid project, centered roughly on the ancient settlement of Siqdid. The three sectors cover an area of ±483 km2. The southern boundary of these blocks abuts the Umm Samra license blocks whilst the northwestern boundary abuts the Wadi Zeidun licence blocks, effectively consolidating Lotus ground holdings in the Wadi Zeidun-Umm Samra area to a ±965 km2 contiguous land package. Fieldwork commenced in December 2023.
The Siqdid license area is dominantly composed of mafic to intermediate volcanic lavas, with minor areas of ophiolitic mélange, and granitic intrusions on the western and eastern borders.
Lotus exploration to date has focused on a license-wide stream sediment sampling program and initial reconnaissance mapping and sampling along regional scale structural contacts. Moderate artisanal alluvial mining has been identified in the southern and western portions of the license area.
The exploration strategy for 2024 will focus on follow-up of reconnaissance sampling and stream sediment sampling results.
